Your Grosvenor Story
I joined Grosvenor way back in October 2007! Such a long time and such a big part of my professional working life. Prior to that, I managed an office in North Oxford for four years, dealing mainly in larger character homes. Honestly, I do what I do now because after completing my law degree as a mature student, I was drawn back to the industry having become aware I’d never ever had such a rewarding job. It’s really important in our work to be both experienced and confident in what you do and I know I’m a really good, empathetic, pragmatic, approachable agent who gets results for all clients and who also makes many good friends along the way.
Tell us about you outside of work
I’m married to the inestimable (and vastly tolerant) Mrs Burton and we live in the Surrey Hills, near Guildford. My life outside of work has always been about sport and I play racketball, tennis and golf. I represent Surrey at county level for racketball and I play in many competitive racketball events around the country throughout the year. We don’t have children but do have a great many nieces and nephews between us and the centre of our lives is Moby, our epic, 6-year-old springer spaniel.
Favourite bit of the house
I think I’d have to say the staircase; I do love a grand staircase and stairwell particularly. Some of the photos one can get from the top landing of very large houses make for some amazing shots.
I’ve begun doing a bit of baking recently and make a mean fig clafoutis and a scrumptious dark chocolate and orange brownie! I also have two webbed toes on my left foot.
